Perspectives for the Third American Revolution
We are living in an epoch of sharp and sudden changes. The pace of history is accelerating, as is the nonlinear process of polarization and radicalization of consciousness. Ten years after the 2008 crisis, the US economy is again precariously balanced on a knife’s edge and could tip back into recession at any time for any reason, unleashing a far-reaching chain reaction we cannot predict with precision in advance. What we can say with certainty is that economic, social, and political crisis and instability are squarely on the agenda. We develop perspectives so as to outline the most likely course of the class struggle in order to focus our political and organizational energies as we build the subjective factor in the most powerful capitalist country on the planet. We combine principled class independence, internationalism, and tactical flexibility as we participate in the struggles of the workers and youth, keeping our finger on the pulse of events, filling in the details, and correcting our course as history unfolds.
This perspectives document, drafted by the Central Committee of the US Section of the International Marxist Tendency, will be discussed and amended by the National Congress at the end of May 2018.
