The Communist Issue 22 - April 2026
The US-Israeli imperialist war on Iran is having profound consequences.
Once practically a US semi-colony, Iran slipped out of the imperialists’ grasp after the 1979 Revolution. Since then, US imperialism has attempted to regain control. But the military, economic, and industrial might of the US is in decline, while Iran has been proactively preparing for a US-Israeli attack for decades. Iran has shut down the Strait of Hormuz, a vital corridor for world trade, and it is pummeling the Gulf monarchies with missiles and drones. The imperialists are now staring down the abyss of defeat.
Trump is floundering. The closure of the strait threatens a worldwide economic depression. Workers in the US, already bearing the burden of inflation, are now being forced to pay for skyrocketing prices at the pump and grocery shelves. The war is deeply unpopular, and is widening rifts in MAGA. Many see the war as a betrayal of Trump’s “anti-war” campaign message.
Meanwhile, the fallout from the Epstein files continues to show workers the depravity of the ruling class. There is a new wave of populist politicians who hope to tap into the class anger to get into office and tinker with the system. The ruling class’s parasitic speculation has reached new heights, with private credit and online betting platforms racking up billions.
All of this and more is covered in The Communist Issue #22.
