The Communist Issue 16 - August/September 2025
The United States is becoming fertile ground for the ideas of communism.
According to recent polls by the right-wing Cato institute, 62% of Americans under 30 have a favorable view of socialism, while 34% have a favorable view of communism.
In America—the richest country in the world—workers and youth have known nothing but crisis and instability. We have seen a handful of billionaires multiply their wealth while the vast majority toils away from year to year, under increasingly more difficult conditions. Young people see an increasingly grim future, as they watch mega-corporations and imperialist powers destroy the world through endless wars and environmental destruction.
In this context, workers are looking for political alternatives to the status-quo. Trump managed to temporarily tap into this growing class rage, but his cross-class coalition is rapidly breaking apart. So far, he has slashed Medicaid and food stamps and has totally failed to end the “forever wars.” Last month, his hypocritical and defensive attitude towards the Epstein scandal sharpened the rifts within MAGA along class lines.
More workers are coming to understand that the immense wealth created by society cannot be left in the control of a few parasitic capitalists. The task of the RCA is to build the foundation of what will eventually become a mass party for the millions of American Communists who wish to overturn this system and create a society that gives people a life worth living.
The Communist is different from any other publication you’ll find in the US today. Behind this newspaper, there’s a vast network of communist activity from coast to coast. It is a tool for organizing in the streets, at protests and strikes, for building communist cells in our neighborhoods, workplaces, and campuses.
If you’re committed to seeing the end of capitalism in your lifetime, if you’re part of a rapidly growing communist generation, this is your paper. If you're ready to take that step, join today to become a member of the RCA.
