This weekend marks the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution. Most workers will be celebrating the Fourth of July as usual: fireworks, hot dogs, and family barbecues.

The ruling class, however, has little to celebrate. Two and a half centuries after the revolution that made US Capitalism into a spry up-and-comer, they now find themselves at the head of a declining and crisis-ridden imperialist power.

Trump’s signing of the "Memorandum of Understanding” with Iran represents a de-facto defeat for US imperialism. As much as he might want to extricate himself from this quagmire of his own creation, the neo-cons and Zionists—who insist on supreme US-Israeli dominance of the Middle East—won’t make this so easy.

At home, AI is becoming more unpopular than ever. Dystopian surveillance, the possibility of mass job displacement, and billionaires’ arrogant attitude towards young proletariats are leading to a mood of revolt against the tech billionaires. Elon Musk even became a trillionaire after manipulating the AI bubble.

Trump’s border czar, Tom Homan, is threatening New York City with a huge surge of ICE troops, while hunger strikes in Migrant Detention centers are making national headlines.

At the same time, the World Cup is exposing the massive inequality of American society. Sports games have become an expensive racket that only the rich can afford.

Finally, the Cuban revolution is facing its most difficult challenge yet. The Cuban government, under massive pressure from US imperialism, is planning the most significant concessions to capitalism in its history, threatening to end the planned economy once and for all. It is the task of workers in the US to defend the Cuban Revolution and its gains.

All of this and more is covered in The Communist Issue 25.

The Communist is different from any other publication you’ll find in the US today. Behind this newspaper, there’s a growing network of communist activity from coast to coast. It is a tool for organizing in the streets, at protests and strikes, for building communist cells in our neighborhoods, workplaces, and campuses.

If you’re committed to seeing the end of capitalism in your lifetime, if you’re part of a rapidly growing communist generation, this is your paper. If you're ready to take that step, join today to become a member of the RCA.
